3D Secure Payments and SCA

Since the new changes of SCA (applied in September 2019), most European countries now require an extra authentication step for all digital transactions (full list of countries can be found here).

DepositFix is compatible with SCA and 3D secure payments, which means that SCA adds an authentication step before the authorization takes place. This means that online card payments under the new rules will work as follows:

1. To authenticate a payment, the customer will respond to a prompt from their bank. For example, this might be done with a password, with a text message to the phone associated with the account, or with a fingerprint.

2. With successful authentication, the card will then be authorized for the requested amount. The bank decides whether to approve or deny a payment when an authorization request is received.

3. After the payment amount has been approved by the bank, the merchant captures the specified amount and the card is charged.
